  • Jade Gems better than Amber/Sapphire?

    Hi peeps,

    I heard 1 atk will be voided by roughly 3 def. So 1k atk voids at 3k def.
    However, if 1 def cant compensate 5dmg, wouldnt it be better to go with full Jade gems instead of def fgems?

    Immaculate Sapphire/Amber +291 DEF
    Immaculate Jade +1468 HP

    What am I missing here? I mean those 291 def must compensate at least 1468 HP.

    Lets say with amber:
    10000 HP
    Def 291
    hit: 1k patk -> getting hit for 903 (1k -1/3 x 293)
    result: 9097 HP left

    Same with Jade:
    10000HP
    + 1468 HP = 11468 HP
    Def 0
    hit: 1k patk
    result: 10468 HP

    How is def calculated?
    Is that 1/3 rule true?
    Jade gems even ignore the type of incoming damage. It doesnt matter to your hp if its magic or physic.

    So, are def gems or jade gems better? :|

    I dont really know what is better but i got a 94 Scion rogue and im planning to go full Jade gems which will be in 14 slots Immaculate = 1468 x 14 Slots = 20804 HP , you can put jade gems in helmet , chest + boots , i picked this because dodge + HP sounds more usefull to me , could be that it depend on class though

        Who says that jade gems are for priests?
        Then again, how is defense calculated? If it is, like my knight friend told me, a 1/3 calculation, then jade gems are better for everyone o.o

          Assuming that your 1/3 ratio is correct, then amber/sapphire still have their uses.

          Lets take an example in ladder:
          - Your healer heals 5k / light heal / 1.5s
          - Your tank has 10k hp, 0 def, no gem
          - Mobs hit 6k dmg / hit / 1.5s

          Now with full jades (14 immacumates):
          - Your tank now has 30804 hp, still 0 def
          - Your healer still heals 5k
          - Mobs still hit 6k
          => Result: -1k hp every 1.5s, which means if your pt can't kill the mobs fast enough, your tank will die in 31 hits and your pt fails that floor

          Now with full ambers (9 immaculate)
          - Your tank now still has 10k hp, 2619 def
          - Your healer still heals 5k
          - Mobs now hit 6k - 2619/3 = 5127 dmg / 1.5s
          => Result: -127 hp every 1.5s, which means your tank can now live longer (he can last for almost 80 hits) which gives your pt more time to kill the mobs.

          Also, more def means knight's wave is more effective at holding mob's aggro, as the threat ratio is based on def.

          (I'm not stating whether amber/sapphire or jade is better, I'm just pointing out that amber/sapphire still have their use even if the 1/3 ratio was correct, which gem to socket is totally dependent on each player's individual preference)
