The story behind the Gingerbread Man varies from village to village, but one of these stories tells of an old couple who is believed to have made the first set of gingerbread people. Fearing old age would get the better of them, they began sell cookies throughout the village in the likeness of each other so that they would always be able to recall their sweet memories together.
