Using Skills vs. not using your skills

When people fight the world boss or fight in the catacombs. they idle while the character auto hits the enemy.

This is actually worse then using your basic skill.

Here's why

Auto hit (not critical): 2 rage
Basic skill (Not critical): 5 rage
Auto hit (Critical) : 6 rage
Basic skill (critical): 10 rage

What I mean by this is; if you get a critical hit using your basic skill, your rage will increase by 10. (For an archer, this would be arrow strike.) If you get a Critical hit with auto hit, your rage will only increase by 6.

As you can see, using your basic skill will be more beneficial then just letting the computer do the work.

Just a little addendum.. the best characters know to do both. Wait that extra second before selecting to let the hand move for auto and then select. You get a lot of double hits that way
