I would also like to see this from within our farm friends listing with the ability to delete and beter manage friends from within our Farm window.

Both are good ideas. We can see those who have been gone for whatever length of time in our guild members page, but beyond that, we have little to no information as to when the last time a player was online.

Edit: Generally, once every couple months, I trim down my friends list by choosing to delete those who are lv 2 or lower. 2 months of clicking trees is easily enough for lv 3.
