This is getting too much where words are filtered because some are being considered as bad words. The following normal words are being censored as a result of this mess up:
Popularity
Segment
Paradigm
Figment
Screw (don't know why this is even filtered if we're talking about hardware)
and I am sure there are other words that people are having a hard time trying to circumvent to say it out loud.
Reasons why it's too much:
1. It costs a bullhorn to use in chat. Since the new servers don't have these, they are still deducted by some means. After so many used, then you have to spend balens to get more.
2. It confuses people in chat when a filter is used as they try to figure out what you are saying. And if you're helping them, it's worse.
3. Where 1 and 2 are used in combination, it ticks the player off big time that they don't want to chat unless they need to.
I am going to assume the "Lazy Man's" approach when the filter was set: "text containing any of the following". You need to lose that! It should have programmed to say: "the EXACT word ONLY", not contain. This way, other words should be safe as it didn't contain the affected words. Frankly, the chat filtering should be a setting that a player should have on their console to turn off bad language or leave it on. I understand a need for such, but it's stunting the rest of our vocabulary.
So fix this! And I am done ranting.
