how can i make my spirit fox attack automatically? i see other BM's do and their familiars are on higher lvl already

You can switch your familiar between attack mode (will actively attack enemies) and defense mode (will only attack enemies attacking you) on the familiar tab.

When you summon a familiar the familiar tab is displayed as below; http://prntscr.com/e9a3k6.
Familiar level depends on the current familiar skill level itself. As in example, if you max Ghoul Familiar to Level 5 Skill, then the familiar will be level 5.
