The friend gifts drop in level appropriate dungeons. You can only give the gift your friend wants that day, which is automatically chosen for them and changes at reset. Giving gifts increases intimacy so you can marry them. To give your friend a gift, open your friends list, click on the friend's name, and then click Gift.
