Making 80 gear

Not sure this is the right section... I haven't played for awhile and before when making lvl 80 gear from the 70legend you would lose all enchants,
refines and socket places you opened.
Can someone tell me if this is still the case?

A while ago this changed. When upgrading gear, the enchantments and all those fun goodies remain. You may still want to upgrade those refinements and you may need to enchant a few new levels depending on what one gear to the next type goes to... but you will not lose them. This went in in a patch not to long ago, which can be found here.
