Does Clothing need to be identified to synthesize?

Hi, I was just wondering if I had to identify each piece of clothing before I tried to synthesize it? I didn't know if clothing identification was required, or just gave extra bonuses if you wanted them.

Secondly, if I am able to synthesize the pieces without identifying them, am I able to go back and identify the individual pieces at a later date?

1. No you don't have to identify them in order to synthesize.

2. Yes, you can identify them at any time! You won't lose any clothing after you've obtained them.
