If you've ever watched your toon in the Wilds, they will sometimes reverse course, then reverse again, when they are near a mountain or other obstacle. Presumably this has to do with pathfinding recalculating.
Since your toon is alone and obstacles like mountains have no strategic or tactical value, why not just turn it off and let the toons walk right through. Saves time and calculation.
Even better, turn off the toon. You are scrolling the map to find something anyway. That could represent walking around. Just click on what you want.
Right now, if you click on something and it is marked (e.g., a sword on a monster), there is still no guarantee your toon will walk there and initiate the do-you-want-to-fight dialog. This can all be avoided if you just forget about running the toon around to begin with.
