It is to do with the integer value. How many bits you assign to the value of the boss' hp. Chances are, they are using a finite int bit value, which is why there is a hard cap on the hp. If you go over that, it can go several ways, the most common is likely to be a boss with 1 hp. Or it can go into an infinite loop because the number has gone out of bounds and the game just crashes on WB.
