Ever since this was implemented in part 1 of the patch people don't check their messages anymore since the messages box is always blinking. Sure you can minimize the guild chat bar but this is an extra step no one can be bothered to do so. Also guild chat is generally open all the time for people so it is totally unnecessary to have it start blinking. Also when people are not actively typing in guild chat it will just start blinking so it is useless for informing you of anything.
