Vertical Troop Formation?

I played single arena today and a knight had him and his troops in a straight vertical line.

I would like to do this for Catacombs to spread out the damage. Is this a specialty just for knights or is there a way for me to do this? thanks

It is because the knight is proberly playing his MPD at the time. Then you show up in arena where your spot is in the MPD.
