Knight level 40 legendary equipment better than lvl 55 equipment?

Usually everyone gets like the 35,45,55 equipment. But can level 40 legendary be better than lvl55 with orwithout good refined skills? Was thinking if i should rock the lvl 40 legendary till i get to 60, or do what everyone else does?

i believe that pvp55 is better than leg40. but you will have 1 extra socket/piece for gems.
btw, leg50 is better than pvp55.
