    Exactly... thats why my Light Of Justice Ate that trash floating astral for breakfast. i tested it in void and the numbers were Jummping all over the place. Min hit no crit 1.500, Max hit w/ no crit 4,000... Min Crit 3000, Max crit 7000... to much play there for me. so i got the Crit base damage at 20% for the time being.

        maybe naming it correct might be easy to understand , example 60 strength = stamina , took me a while to figure it out

          Apparently it doesn't increase min, it decreases min, increases max, slightly increase overall average damage with a bigger damage range.
          Ex:
          1000-2000 dmg range normally done, average damage 1500

          use 20% floating astral
          damage is now 800-2400, average damage 1600, wider possible fluctuation on damage, over time, average damage done is higher.
