What is the best way to get socketing rods right now without spending balens?

Guild altar, use max attempts every day.
Also battlegrounds treasure chest sometimes drops a rod.

do guild blessings in altar, also get battleground shards and synthesize into bg chest. Hopefully you'll get one cus I haven't gotten one from it yet =/

The most important thing about socketing rods really is:

Do not waste them on crappy equipment. If you don't plan on having the equipment piece for more than a month, don't even bother using socketing rods on it.
Keep them for full PvP or PvE sets (and the crypt jewels/rings) you plan on using a very long time.

Aye Guild alter, and pick a set to use them on. I Saved up and used my 50 set of rods on my 50 set.

I get one or 2 every couple of weeks. If you have VIP, do the spin all as it seems to drop pretty often for me compared to in the past where I could only get 1 every couple of months by doing single spins for max attempts daily...for BG chests might probably have to collect alot of it to open in bulk to increase your chances.

They do, randomness and luck.
Got 4 during the last 2 days, too bad i've reached the point that i just exclaim "oh no... another rod why not a crypt key ?"
