anyone knows how block work?

I am a lvl 74 mage, 107 k br, and I have 3500 block. I am not sure if I should refine the lvl 70 set with block as well, but its the block from just the astral and medallion enough? I have no idea what will be the difference between 2.7 k block (without refining) and 3.5-3.7 k with refining. Do you advice me to improve my block with refining and keep it at around 3.5-3.7 k block ? Anyone knows how block actually work?

Few patches ago, higher block seems to increase the block chance (with diminishing returns).

Not sure now, but B4nshee has something else to say (e.g higher block decreases damage).

1k block = 10% chance of blocking
2k block = 12% chance of blocking
3k block = 13% chance of blocking
4k block = 13.778% chance of blocking
5k block = 14.22% chance of blocking

table is invalid since it is not descriptive enough in your testing. did you test against lvl 70's or with. what was targets block. pve or pvp....list goest on. i know i have near 100% block rate against wb with 3k block so you need much work to make the table even resemble being correct
