If we buy a passive skill for a sylph and we dont use the 300 balens for an extra slot, will the skill replace a passive or active skill?

i asked about this, it seems passive replaces passive, i did it without buying the extra slot with my gaia, i got very lucky and got an extra slot for freeIGN/Server: Crusader Kabam 62

Passives replace passives; extra slots are extremely rare.
Actives replace actives; extra slots are rarer.
Limit is 5 abilities to actives; passive limit is 3 (I think so, maybe 4)
Buying a new ability costs Balens; New slot costs 300 Balens; low chance to receive free extra slot.Everything is to blame...
