Spending Daru 30++

I'm a new player and just reached level 30. I read a bit on the subject and I'm stuck with 2 idea. Should I upgrade paladin as much as i can (I'm 22 now) Or should I save all to up lvl 40 troops while ll get them ?

if you only went to 22 so far upgrade gryphons.
