I don't honestly know what "optimized server conditions" actually means. I do know that no one on any platform got much of an advance notice, so it's very possible that someone somewhere either dropped the ball on getting the communication out to both companies, or someone made a very last minute decision to have maintenance a day early and everyone was notified as soon as that decision was made. The sentiment about changing the day without proper notice has been expressed to R2.
