I was using Guardian and Healing. I killed his kid and his sylphs. He was dying. My guys were all at more than 50% health.

None of your theories match up in any way shape or form, especially when my mage is not even 900k hp and those guys were at least 1.3M hp from the movement of the hp bar and damage I deal them.
