so... who am I behind the scenes..... ? who is the real kitwritten.........
lol there is a standing job that Kitwritten has the temperament of a wolverine with a itchy butt and the personality skills of hannibal lector, the mind of stephen hawking and the vision of bill gates and steve jobs.
its about right.... I am not a social butterfly..... I have always been a reclusive person that has a deep and passionate love of computers, gaming and 30+ years of experience in the computer and gaming worlds......
I absolutely love working on computers, OS and games..... nothing else compares to that in my eyes and that is why I am a technophile....
I see the world in simple terms.....
players, gamers, staffies, world builders.....
1) players... those are the people that exist in the world around use and in the gaming community.... the mundane people that make up part of our existence and daily life but never really impact on it that much.....
2) gamers... they are the people that are focused and driven, pushing themselves and the people around them to new levels... and in gaming, they are not always the person in the top ten with vip ten, they can be the non casher in the top ten with a superior build, hours of game play and very hard to beat..... they can also be the level sitter that is in the top ten rankings but the person that reachs out to their fellow gamer and says let me help you......
3) staffies..... there are two types, those that want to run things and those that do..... wannabe staffies are the people that want to be leaders, executives, decision makers, and the people that can really mess things up....and there are the staffies, the people that are the leaders, they can be game staff or guild leaders that inspire loyality, respect and you just wanna be their friend or part of their guild or community....
4) world builders.... those are the people that create society as we understand it.... they are looking for the new idea, the new change in technology... they exist on the cutting edge... and they can be every person from the genius to the mentally challenged person with a limited ability to talk......stephen hawking is in a wheelchair, a living vegetable and fathered children.... NEVER underestimate a persons idea, suggestion or thought
In R2 games, my role is a multiple role aspect.... I work in a number of different areas outside of the normal boundaries of game staff. I have titles in the game that have guidelines that I follow however I do not strictly adhere to the role guidelines that players are used to, with people that have those titles.
I am a troubleshooter / tester, tech, forum mod ( title ) and GM on servers ( title ), player and gamer.
1) troubleshooter / tester this means that I bring years of experience to the table, I am constantly on the look for issues, problems, bugs in a independent role... and I am constantly testing things like the combat system out of personal interest....I like to know how things work.... most of the information I have, is not provided by the devs or R2, I have worked it out myself using my years of knowledge and experience.
This is not a R2 game staff position
2) Tech- this means that I work on technical issues and solutions, often outside of R2 games, I test things like browsers, addons, flash player, IE, windows updates, OS etc and can often solve issues that R2 games and their techs can not provide a solution for..... its done voluntarily and outside of R2 games
This is not a R2 game staff position
3) Forum mod ( title ) its basically a title that gives me access to staff and tools... forum mods role is to forward tickets, suggestions, feedback. Forum mods are not supposed to provide tech support and help so I provide it outside of my role as a forum mod..... I am actually neutral, I am not interested in a player versus R2 war.... that interferes with my day and work.... I do not like or dislike players, they are names on a screen and the people behind the names, I never meet.
This is a R2 game staff position ( title )
4 GM ( title ) the red title on the servers, gives me access to tools and a colour. R2 GMs are the true GMs of the game, they are R2 employees and work for R2 games. I use the title when I am on a server, to help check issues, problems and bugs, listen for feedback and suggestions.... I can also mute and ban players if action is needed
I also assist in event and update development and other areas......

choose your own adventure books... I loved the way of the tiger series, playing a ninja..... they came out in the 1980s and unfortunately I lost the collection in a house fire .... there was many other book series that I also read and enjoyed... and I am still a hardcore reader....
LARP ( live action role play ) White wolf Vampire: the masquerade.... yes, I absolutely love V:tM, and I have participated in many forms of roleplaying, including virtual person role play, table top role play, I even have the PC games... and what I love about V:tM is the ability to transform myself into so many different, unique characters and immerse myself in a world where I can be anything, anybody......
most individual characters role played in a single V:tm game: 122 characters, males, females, sabbat, camarilla, all clans and some independents..... and one of the most epic clashes of personality in a role play that some RPers had ever seen... I had to prove to them in the end, that it was just me alone playing the characters because it was so real and intense that people were swearing that it had to be a group of roleplayers.....
Roleplaying outside of V:tM, I also love...... and its a regular part of my daily routine... even in the forums and on the servers, most people have no idea if they are actually talking to me or a character / persona.... ANY role playing is done with a very strict set of self imposed rules and I do discourage people getting close to any character I may use.
one of my much loved roles was as game staff in another game, I roleplayed a female so realistically that it fooled the staff game that I worked with, for 6 months..... only the fact that I had to reveal that I am red and green color blind, alerted them to the fact that I was actually a male, red/green color blind is extremely rare in females.
dungeons and dragons, Advanced dungeons and dragons, I love..... games that lasted a year or more... participating as character and game master.....
I am very much a person that loves strategy games, like spellforce..... you can use cheat codes and its still going to take you weeks to beat the game because its real time strategy, and yes you play 6 different races as you progress thru the game and each race requires a person to think in a new way as what works for one race, will not work for another race.....
if you were to have a look at my gaming shelves, you would see xbox and ps games like spyro, halo, gran taurismo, assassins greed..... pc games like baldurs gate, never winter nights, impossible creatures, V:tM, spellforce, Might and Magic, heros of might and magic, guild wars, magic the gathering, halo, sniper, vietnam, Need for speed ( I love most wanted ), guild wars......
so yeah..... I live in a world of computers, games and technology..... and I think and play the same way... I immerse myself into the character, I think as the casher, the non casher, the player and the gamer, the staffie and the world builder.....
Softly exhaled sigh, raises whiskey glass in salute to the reader * Alas I must bid ye, fair travels and good tidings, for the world of gaming rests not for man nor beast, woman nor child *. Empties the glass, placing it on the mantle piece. Reaches for travellers cloak, worn and faded shades of black.
Turns his face back towards the reader, piercing steel gray eyes under white hair. Smiles softly with a hint of sadness in the eyes. *You nay beat the game every time, tho the game does not always win, play the game if you choose or the game will play you *.
Sweeps the cloak over shoulders, swiftly reaching the door to the library and exits through the door, words like a lingering scent are left hanging in the air * at the end of the day, its not about me.... its about the game...... and its time to play the game.......*
1) I like to play old school gamer style in games where cashing is the way to go:
The reason for that, is because I am a old school gamer...... I grew up on games where hard work, thinking and strategy were what made the difference between a player, a gamer and does that guy have a life ?
In the days of table top dungeons and dragons and V:tM, a working knowledge of the game was required, there was no forum guides, cheats or cash options, so a persons knowledge of the game, the characters, skills and stat placement were very important.
So I tend to enjoy the low level casher / non casher style of game play, it takes a lot longer to progress in the game but its possible to become a power house player without spending anything.
2) I talk about how I do what I do, for free.... how true is it ?
100% true. I love the freedom to choose my own hours, type of work and where I work. I have worked on many games as a freelancer, met amazing and talented game staff and players. Learnt about different cultures, societies and ways of life.
I tend to compare it to the lifestyle of the person that goes on a big overseas experience for a couple of years, working in 9 to 5 jobs can restrict them when it comes to traveling and exploring the world around them, if they are casual work as you go, type people, they have a lot more freedom.
3) I work a average 14-16 hours a day, 7 days a week, am I insane or a workaholic ?
lol neither, I actually have no sense of time. Working on games or playing on games, even reading books, I will spend as long or short as it takes.
My partner is quick to point out that my 5 minutes can be as much as 8 hours. It became a standing joke in another game that if I said " Give us a minute and I will be right there " actually meant " anytime between 5-8 hours later.
One of my oldest friends used to joke about how I probably did not know what year it was not, they did not realise how true that was until the day I had to fill out some official documents, I had to stop and ask them what year it was so I could work out how old I was.
4) I talk about how all players are valuable to R2 games, is that really true ?
Yes, Each person is a player / gamer in one of R2s games and so each person matters to R2 games staff. A gaming community is a ever changing community that is self supporting, from the casual player to the hard core player, the non casher to the super heavy casher, each person is a part of that community. Some games not only have multiple game servers on the R2 site, they also have the same game in multiple different languages on other game sites so that way people can enjoy the games in their own languages.
I say that as a player freely and honestly as I love playing games where the devs and game staff ask what the players want to see in their ( players ) game. Having seen players suggestions implemented in games, means a lot to me because I am seeing player feedback and suggestions, become a reality in the games. Over the years I have had a lot of input into game building and its always a thrill to go into same gaming forum and read players posts about games I have worked on and how they enjoyed an part of the game. I can think to myself, I know the player that suggested that part or that event, I played on a server with them and they kicked my butt in guild battle or the arena.
I have a simple stance, You can have your name in the rankings or you can have your idea / suggestion implemented, your name may be forgotten but players may enjoy your suggestion for years to come, that's one hell of a legacy
5) i speak fondly about players i have known but i say that i never meet the players and they are just a name on a screen.
Ever watched a movie or read a book and felt a connection to a person that does not really exist ? I have known many players over the years, the ones we enjoy gaming with and the ones that we wish would lose their net connection. Some players moved on to other games, others passed on and are sadly missed. They are all part of the gaming communities that I have been involved in.
Each in their own way, has made a impression on me and that is why I say they are valuable to R2 games as well, some players have become vets and forum mods, others have become friends with game staff, they are all part of the R2 community.
so for those that have been and gone, stay and play and future gamers yet to sign up, thank you for playing the games and the impressions you make on our lives....
