Trying to play with someone but they're not there?

My girlfriend and I are trying to play together, but even though we are on the same server (Belas Chasm) the other isn't there. We keep trying to switch maps or meet up at NPCs, but when we confirm we're both in the meeting spot, it's like we're on different servers. The stupid thing is, we WERE playing together. We even friended and partied, but as soon as we got to starglade, we could no longer play together. Is this a bug or what?
