Before the latest "fix", the gold contribution used to stop at the max gold you have on your person (for those who want to contribute all of their gold). As of now, it keeps running when you press a number. Example: you have 200,458 gold that you want just throw into contribs. You go into the guild interface and hold down a single number and it would fill up the input box with the max gold you have (of course it will just give 200k as it is not supposed to do change) and then you can contribute. Same scenario, except when you press a number, it goes to the max and then back down to single digit, and repeats as long as you hold the key down. Not a good way for those in a rush to just fast dump their gold into contribs without having the type up the whole thing.
