I'm was one of vBulletin Forums system admin and worked a lot with it.
You can just make another group for active members, who have like 30+ posts as example, and disable Captcha for them, instead of make this for all members, just make it for new members or "members" group, and great another group based on members group but disable Captcha for them.
And there is auto promote system for who achieve some points or posts count or both, so any players is active and posted more than 30 as example ( you can define how many posts member need to get promoted ) he will move to another group without Captcha.
Just remove this its so annoying.
