  • Concerning Art: Characters

I'm under the impression that I can draw well, when I put my mind to it. I can draw a decent Pokemon when I feel like it, but, for a while now, I haven't drawn much. I got this artist book for Christmas last year, and I still haven't done anything with it... and looking at the threads in this forum has, to the very soul of drawing in me, inspired me to take up my hobby again. There's only one problem I have: I can't draw human or humanoid characters to save my life.

I have problems with the face really, and getting the proportions right... So, seeing as there are plenty of skilled artists out here, I came here looking for help, tips; really anything.

Specifically, I have trouble with anime hair styles and the shape of the skull... And here's a list of characters I want to draw, if it would help anything:

Fayt Leingod < Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
    Lelouch Lamperouge < Code Geass
Captain Basch fon Ronsenburg & Gabranth < FFXII
    Cloud Strife < FVII
Haseo: The Terror of Death (with or without the "Terror of Death) < .Hack://G.U.
    Kite < .Hack Infection-Quarantine
    Ovan < .Hack://G.U.
Lloyd Irving < Tales of Symphonia
Kratos Aurion < Tales of Symphonia
    ...

And others I can't think of right now :P
I'd appreciate some assistance, even if it's just saying that I should just draw the way I do... it's something I would need to hear from someone else, even someone I don't know, before I start believing it.

Just start drawing. If you don't like it scrap it and try again. Lots of practice on anything you're not good on helps a lot, use refs if need, look at other artwork and see that there are many ways to draw the same thing. Also always remember to have fun. Just draw what you want to draw.
