  • Being on server #1

I have had this experience for some time now on a couple of games that I play. Whenever server merges come, they usually leave out server #1 alone, not attached/merged to other servers. A friend told me that this is because the first server serves as a template for new servers, hence, it cannot be combined with other servers during a merge. Is this true? If it is true, then it is not a good idea to play on the first released server in any game?

Crystal Saga's S1 is actually merged with 13 other servers. The merge itself was delayed longer than other servers because our S1 would (and still does) undergo maintenance first, presumably to make sure everything rolled out as intended before other servers hit maintenance.

There are only 4 games that do not have a merged S1, and of those 4, two are way too new to have a lot of merges, so it's not possible to apply a broad theory to all games.
