It's not preventable. Equipment wears down when you use it. You need to repair it at an npc vendor or use a hammer, when the durability gets too low. just a tip:
lot of people might oppose it but try not to master repair ur frag or equip untill u r sure that you wont be upgrading it further because each upgrade refreshes the count on durability!(-[>.<]-)Comment

suggestion from me
frag weapon also need to repair n it so expensive with low stats at lower level frag weapon
at least it can placed at vault, so more pack in the bagComment
