citrine gem (crit def) versus garnet gem (crit strike)

Wondering which one is better if my playstyle is geared towards PVE. I do very little PVP and was thinking which of these 2 gems impacts PVE more. I have the impression that citrine gems are geared towards PVP and works only on PVP while garnet gems impacts both PVP and PVE gameplay. Need advice on this please before I socket my zodiac equipment. Thanks!

Citrines would be a better pick in about any situation imho. Eventually you will anyways overlap the 100% crit which would make the garnets useless once it happens (aside during some rare negative buffs from bosses which lowers your stats, crit included). And critical defence works so that it has a chance of neglecting an incoming critical strike, which means that the crit would turn into a normal hit instead. As for how much crit def would be good, test it a bit. Once you seldomly get critted in PvE, then you're pretty much set.
