ok so my friend ThingOne has opened 86 firelord eggs hes wondering how many more it should take :/ and does opening other eggs mess up the FL count ?

Well, once again, it's all by chance.
You should open them all at once with only 1 pet slot open to prevent multiple clicking, etc.
I opened about 60, didn't hatch.
Opened 24 more at a different time, and got mine. It really is all luck.
