If I can recall correctly the Blood Thirsty Wolf is a mob you summon in Twilight Caverns.
The Quest item, Tip, should appear in your inventory after you accepted the Quest. If you have trouble finding it I suggest opening up your inventory and switching to the Quest Tab which will filter all items except those that are related to Quests. The Tip should look like a scroll.Helpful Links

Quest items cannot be sold
Try to abandon and retake the quest if you are still experiencing the same problem even after doing all what Virtue_Sigil suggested.Comment
