Every Forums tend to have their own rules and restrictions.

This just happens to have their restrictions on having Pictures within your signatures.

Nothing more, nothing less. I don't see the problem here, otherwise.

Dark Orbit has a forum made by the same host(VBulletin) and every user can put images on signatures...and it's cool
they can take a pic of their ships and make cool signatures like these:

I was testing around how the avatar works.
Basically it's either it should be less than 80x80 or less than the 19.5kb for the .GIF to work. Why were there 100x100 px big avatars, they might be the older ones. The 80x80 px rule was implemented around... Well not so recently anyway. Nowdays if you put a 100x100 px avatar, it shrinks down. Not sure, still testing.


As for why only forum mods, admins and GMs are allowed to have images in their signatures is because to reduce those seizure-causing pictures, or any taboo subject of the internet. Monitoring them would be harder, unlike a person saying "**** you" in the forums. And in truth unless you want the forums to look like a grafitti wall, with people having 1000x1000 tall signatures, it's better this way.
