hey some of my friends are saying that agility doesn't increase your crit strike chance.Is this true???

It does.
Agi gives crit strike rating, rating gives crit strike chance.

It does. The higher your crit rating, the higher your crit chance.
What would be the point in using garnet gems, if it doesn't?

Well Im not sure, since beside your crit rating there is a percentage

The percentage is the chance and the only stat that matters.
Crit rating is pretty hard to calculate, its a curve.

Something like 50 crit rating = 1% crit, 100 crit rating = 2% crit, 200 crit rating = 3%, 400 crit rating = 4%, etc.. (just made up the numbers)
The more rating you have, the more you need for the next percentage.

Thats why people who put points in agi believe that it doesnt add crit chance, because they didnt reach the crit rating for the next percentage.

It does, but it gives different amount of crit boosts depending on the job. Just like int, int only gives heal boosts to priest, and only matk, mana and mdef to others. So agi only gives a lot of crit boost to rogues, and less to other jobs.
