Well, I live in Canada and we do the time changing thing as well. I personally hate it, but it's more for the people who are depressed irl.

You can try arguing with the people who came up with the idea of daylight savings. However, I do have to point out that the servers are US servers and are thus supposed to be subjected to the time change. Otherwise, it would be rather annoying for the US player base since it would make everything an hour later.

Many of the other countries will have their own version of DST soon so it'll be back to 'normal' eventually.

But anyway, it's US servers so they follow US time. I will though that when we switched away from DST,R2 posted in the forums in advance for non-US players to be warned. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any announcement about DST to warn those who do not know about US time. It would have been nice to do that.
