pet skill upgrade question

Hi,

If your pet has a lvl 1 skill, and you have a lvl 4 skill book, can it learn the lvl4 straight away? Or does it have to use the lvl 2, and 3 books first? Thanks

You have to upgrade in order, unfortunately.
