As a mortal, you'll benefit more from the right tree on the protection side, which will be the bulk of your defense. Go 5/5 on Earth's Blessing, 1/1 for wave, and 5/5 on Improved Earth's Blessing.
You really don't need 5/5 on battle hymn, but some people like it. I prefer to use the 4 points on an attack skill instead. Attack skills are really personal choice. You want your best attacks to be 5/5 (these would be the Improved or Master version of the skill, which ever is available to you).
