A pure tank Knight class usually have defense against most mobs and bosses and they are specialized in "threats" which makes monsters attack only them.. But I usually find my DPS character (it is a ranger btw and is equipped with a lucky ring) getting attacked by boss in dungeon runs eventhough the tank Knight tries to take the monsters attention to him/her.. So having a high damage can divert a mob attention to the one who is DPS rather than the tank itself? If so then are there any ways to avoid that??

Yes, if your character's attack is high enough it can steal mob "aggressive" from the tank and the mob will attack the DPS.
However you can do a few things like above, but I don't recommend maxing Shockwave as it isn't worth the extra 4 Skill Points. Before you allow your DPS to attack, let your Tank stay at the mob soloing without any other DPS for around 30 seconds. It will give the tank time to increase it's threat level and keep hold of the aggressive when you do send in your DPS.Helpful Links
