How are codex pages used exactly? And how is codex itself used?

Codex uses your online time to lvl the system. after you gain as much as you want to stock up on you can click "auto rank up" The time is used to add exp at incraments. Your codex pages are used to lvl the codex stills that start unlocking at codex lvl R5.
