priests are very versatile, which makes people come up with all sorts of different theories on what Priests can be, but in my view? after looking closely at all the skills in both holy and blood ive come to a decision on what Priests are.
Lets start with Holy, well of course everyone knows what this is? Support, mainly nowone will disagree on this, heals, status immunity buff, stat buffs rezzing skill, a sort of "status cure" skill (pure of heart) and 2 Attacking skills, which people rarely use, personally i love spirit infusion (im a sucker for instant damage attacks) so, really Holy priest is Support, pretty sure everyone knows/agrees on this but just getting it out of the way.
now, there is a lovely addition Priests have, the Blood Skill tree this is where people get the most confused.
the main thing i have a issue with is when people say Blood priests are "DPS" i dont find this true, we have a arsenal of Damage over time skills, to be fair, the only skill that does pure damage is blood beam, but that would be your default attack so its ment to.
so what im saying is, Blood Priests are not DPS to me, they are slow killers, somewhat of torture kills, Blood to me = torture to other person i know coz im a PURE blood priest, ive choosen my skills very carefully, and i can tell you, it takes awhile to kill someone, but u will eventually kill them. Blood priests are not a 1v1 class, which leaves me to my next point.
Blood priests are Debuffers! why you say? hm lets see, our curses at lv 5, in total, reduces the enemies attack by 25 percent, their defences by 35 percent, and their speed by 60 percent, but thats only the start.
Life Drain lv 5 will reduce their Magic damage reduction by 10 percent, while increasing yours by 10 percent, sure it only lasts 4 secs but it still counts as debuffing the enemy, FORGET THE HP DRAIN its pointless yes at high levels but its the damage bonus you want to focus on the most.
we also have the "battlefeild control" skills, some may not know what this means so ill break it down for ya.
first one u get is simply, Demons Grasp, Stuns the target for a long period of time but you must cast it, only worth it at lv 5 where it stuns for 8 seconds
wait... letme just... savor the moment...
8 SECONDS BOO YAH
not a 1v1 skill, but good in a pvp Party, Stun the most threatning character, beat down the rest then finish him of ganking Style
the next "control" skill dont come till eidolon, which is bloody acres, judging by the description it "roots" everyone in place in a target area for a period of time
Next of course is the "tank" part of blood priests, now these are basicly "Magic Absorbers" only (so only good vs Mage, Other priests and Nature rangers) Tenacity + enchanced circulation + bloodguard + curse mastery = alot of HP and decent amount of magic damage reduction, the thing we do have is the Bloodfog totem, place it down, and youll disapear every few secs, making your enemy loose target on you thus he would haveta spend 1 second or more re-targeting you every 3 secs (depending your level of totem) giving you a big advantage.
my point is, we are NOT 1v1 oriented we are party goers, and simply, if you dont like it, go play a rogue they just love their 1v1.
im happy with the current priest Set-up coz it makes a change from the normal "kill kill kill!" and relies more on tactics, and which set-up is more fun and comfortable for you.
