  • What are attack speed and casting speed?

What are they? Do physical classes need casting speed? Do magical classes need attack speed? If they don't, do they give any effect, and is there any level requirement to socket Kyanite gems and Pink Diamond gems?

Attack speed is how fast one [physically] attacks whereas casting speed is how fast one initially casts a spell (or any skill that requires casting time). Rogues, rangers, and knights want to build their attack speed whereas priests and mages want to focus on casting speed. Attack speed-based classes don't exactly have much use for developed casting speeds as most of their skills do not have a cast time.

In regards to Kyanite and Pink Diamonds, they can only be socketed into Exelorn+ rings and necklaces. The Slayer set and anything below does not allow you to socket those particular pieces.

Actually mages and priests want attack speed too- Attack speed reduces the duration of skills, which every skill has. So attack speed is good for them as well, just mages and priests also benefit from cast speed, which reduces the cast time.

knights and rangers also have skills that have a cast time, think of it this way, since i dont know what class you are, ill use a priest as the example, when a priest casts a heal, there is a cast time bar that appears above the hot bars in the middle bottom of your screen. the heal has a cast time, any and all other skills, that when used, that have this bar will be affected by kyanite gems, all skills that do not have this bar, such as the default attack, will be affected by the use of pink diamonds.

          Slightly confused.

So basically like every skill has Cast Time, Duration, Cooldown and Radius. Increase in Cast speed reduces cast time while increase in attack speed reduces duration <- is this right???

            yes, they are correct.
Cast speed only reduces casting time and attack speed reduces duration of any skills, that's why magic class needs attack speed also to land the skill to the target faster.

I mentioned mages and priests specifically because the previous post had said they only wanted to build cast speed. Actually all classes have at least 1 skill with cast time once they get perfect frag X, but it comes down to how many skills do you use with a cast time? If you never use any skill that has a cast time cast speed is useless to you.

My word choice is as follows:

"Want to focus on" isn't exactly equivalent to "only focus on." Thank you for clearing up that mages and priests do need attack speed - I did not include that in my initial post like I did casting speed for rangers, rogues, and knights because I wasn't positive if attack speed substantially helped the other two classes.

Doesn't matter which class you are. Focus on attack speed. Casting speed isnt as beneficial as people think it is.
