What exactly does forum rep do? Because I went from neutral to -9 in one post......and from my understanding of the system, only mods can give that much negative rep, and the message attached to said negative rep is damned annoying. Why is there a rep system? It's just a way for people to troll the people who honestly speak their minds on the forums to get trolled.

Rep power is determined by post count, time since joining the forum, and amount of positive reputation. There's quite a few people who have a decent rep power, not just mods.
The rep system is the way readers of a post can leave you feedback about your post. The rep system was requested by many, and is used by lots of people daily. Don't take it as being trolled, just take it for what it is- whoever it was who left you negative feedback didn't like your post. Not everyone is going to like your posts.New R2 Community Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VFMzFDqKq5

No, not just mods have that kid of rep power. There's lots of people who have over 1000 posts, who have been here for years, with a couple of green blocks.New R2 Community Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VFMzFDqKq5

Each green block, each year, and each x number of posts add together to determine rep. No, non-mods don't have 8 blocks yet, though I have seen a few with 4. 4 blocks, with a high post count, and a join date of years ago, that all adds up.
Regardless, it wouldn't matter if it was a mod or not. Mods are allowed to disagree and agree with posts, just as every person on this forum whether they play this game or not can disagree or agree with your posts. The point is, the post was disagreed with, a comment was left, and reputation is negative. I'm sure you'll post things people do like and agree with and you'll be green in no time.
Aside from colored blocks under your name, the only thing being red does is negate your rep power. Red rep people don't affect reputation for others.New R2 Community Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VFMzFDqKq5

1233 point(s) total. 1000 of that is from the total actually being rigged. I've had 59 comments left for me, and 6 were negative. I wouldn't mind my total being my real total. I don't really pay much attention to the reputation, though.
The only thing I don't like about the comments being anonymous is that we can't ask the person what it was exactly they didn't like about our posts, and so we can't really learn from the comments, unless a comment was actually detailed. Most people aren't interested in learning from it though. What it does help with is people posting off topic comments in a thread just to point out why they really don't like a specific post, which tends to lead to an argument, further derailing the thread..
Anyway, if your reputation is important to you, read the posts that have been negative repped and see if you can figure out why what you posted might not have been found very useful, and make adjustments to your posts so you can avoid that in the future. Otherwise, don't worry about it. You have to go many blocks into the red to be truly negatively impacted by the reputation system.New R2 Community Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VFMzFDqKq5
