pet breeding(merging) attributes

I looked around forums and other sites to learn about pet breeding, i found out everything except 1 little thing
what happenes to the attributes of the next gen pet? What r they based on? Random? Same as main pet's lvl 1 attributes? Or transfere rate affects it?
I wanna make my dk as strong as possible so need to know this tiny detail b4 starting merging.

If you mean the starting attributes (str/agi/int/end), those are randomised again.
If you meant Aptitudes: the main pet keeps his current aptitudes(the basic one) even till after breeding. Only the purple aptitude increases.

was asking bout atributes, already know what happenes to aptitudes xD
so u say no need to waste refresher manuals till i get a gen5, and then look for the proper stats? and do they hold values same as gen1 pets do? or have higher values? wanna know when to stop using manuals xD

If you're going for Gen5 you only need to use manuals on gen5 if you're that much of a cheapskate :P The only values that matter for breeding are Maturity and Aptitudes, rest is neglectable for breeding-purposes.
