me and my wife both play this game and we try to play together but when were in the same spot we cant see each other any help

Each map has a number of instances (L's). To see your wife on the same map as you, you'll need to switch to the same instance.
To switch instances, click on the little yellow L# in the upper left corner of your mini map. In the drop down menu that shows, pick the number that matches your wife.
In this picture, I am on L2, I can switch to L1 or L3.
