I used all my gems the day before maintenance for my ladder title :P (last ladder title)
But its easy to farm the gems. You won't be able to do all exchanges but a few of them. Better than nothing, right?

ever since rd plane was released,
events are mostly aimed for higher plane,
only few are for mortal due to mortal events tends to end up being abused,
think they yet to find free-abuse events
