People take a lot of pride in their pets, why not allow for people to prove who has the best.
Winner could be based off aptitudes, for example:
Strong endurance could mean the pet could sprint longer without getting tired.
High strength/ agility aptitude would help with obstacles.
High Int could mean the pet has options to cast abilities to slow or place obstacle in the path of another.
Varying degrees could change the outcome for every match. Maybe someone with a level 13 super demon could potentially lose to a mutated vulcher because the owner fed and took better care of his pet while the super demon was exhausted. Offering different levels such as A,B,C and S classes for better rewards and for the people that take the time to train and enhance their pet.
Of course with all the strenuous training might cost life span of the pet but the rewards of improving the overall pet might be the greater reward.
Spectators and owners could place wagers and the underdog always pays more. I believe this would encourage people try and enhance and level a pet to get more of an advantage or to stay competitive.
