  • Unbalanced Cross Server is Stupid

I would have used a different word that "stupid" in the title, but trying to watch my language. I just finished a CS with the following lineups:

    Red Team (mine)
    2.3mil BR (me)
    1.5mil BR
    1.0mil BR
    900K BR
    500K BR
    400K BR
    200K BR

    Blue Team
    3.1mil BR
    2.5mil BR
    2.0mil BR
    1.1mil BR
    900K BR
    600K BR
    400K BR

    rant on

Why even bother running the event, just give blue the win and we can all go home. CS is rarely competitive anymore with the outcome determined in the first minute. The lineup above is by no means the most unbalanced I've seen, but is pretty typical these days it seems. I got to mine about 90-120 ore before the 3.1mil BR decided to spend the rest of the match chasing me. I'd run around trying to kill as many as I could before she could catch me while the rest of her team went about slaughtering the rest of mine. Frequently there were no red dots on the radar map because we were all dead. When the top seven or seven of the top eight are from one team, there is something seriously wrong. This match I was on the losing end, other times I'm on the winning end, but either way it's not much fun. I can't even imagine what it was like for the 200K BR person.

I don't care if I have to wait a little longer for a match, but please put some balance in them. CS is one of the few places where we can compete directly with one another and used to be my favorite activity, now it's mostly just another chore to get some resources and honor points.

Having players that are an order of magnitude (or greater) apart in BR is just stupid and wrong, but if you insist on doing it at least work on some algorithms to balance out the teams. I know BR doesn't always mean much but when one team's BR is greater than 50% higher than the other's, there's certainly a need for improvement.

    rant off

1 simple question, if you can answer for me.

How do you know/check your team mate BR?

I am pretty sure if you ask all of them, surely not all will answer you. If that is the case, Where did all the BR stated above come from? Any Screen Shot as proof? Can you get a Screen shot Proof of what you stated above?

It's easy to check everyone's BR in CS. Pre-match or during game just click on the score button, click on the player name, and click on view stats. Post match when it shows everyone's scores, you can just click on their names and click view stats. Can see BR, heros, angels, etc., just like you can when you look at someone on your own server.

Next time you're in CS, check it out. I do before every match to see who to watch out for on opposing team.

Life is too short to post screen shots

From what I've heard, CS is balanced by battle points, so there is some semblance of balancing going on. It's actually a fairly decent idea in theory since it takes into account wins vs. losses instead of just BR / level, which are both not accurate indicators of strength. In actuality battle points aren't always representative of strength since some people AFK in some games and not others, some people just play a lot of CS, etc., and then there's always the case where both teams have only one strong person but the other team's strong person is vastly stronger than yours.

that matchup doesnt seem to bad compared to what Ive been seeing lately. Dont know why but seems like my recent matches put 2 or more 4mil+ BR people on one side and no one over 3mil BR on the other lol. Sometimes there is the weird ones though where the matches end with both teams racing to get the last mine to win the game both within 30 points of the finish.

Yeah CS surely needs some form of matching better than status quo, but in all honesty there will always be that one strongest person and if they know what theyre doing there is no way for you to really compete against them. Best thing to do is hope you have a smart team that can time attacks and raid right to take the mine from the high lvl person by sacrificing a low lvl.

(Ive been on those "underdog" teams that you considered yourself in for this example and managed to pull off wins multiple times due to amazing teamwork)

to me game is decided right after matchmaking. so you better judge if its win or loss. if its latter, get 80 pts and move on :P

I basically agree with MagusRynd however R23121670 does have a point about underdog teams. But that only works if "underdog" has #2 and #3, or 3 of top 5. But when favorite team has top 2 which can't be killed or 3 of top 4, almost impossible for underdog to win.

I won't quit fights though, that is just rude to other players. I can still try to finish in top 3, but low BR players can't do anything. In fact sometimes better for them to do nothing since they otherwise heal enemy. Only if you have great teamwork and good timing, low BR can be very useful, but again, only if "favorite" doesn't have almost all the top players.

Point is CS is a lot more fun with balanced teams so that either team has a chance to win. If I'm going to spend my time in CS, I'd like to have fun doing it.

I have a lot of fun in CS even when we're losing hard, but I can usually hold my own against a few members of the enemy team and when we're just completely outclassed I start playing my own game of how long can I get the 3m BR to chase me around the map or how many death stacks can I rack up before I accidentally kill someone. ...I may just be really easily entertained.

One easy change they could make for the CS system is to make losing a bit more rewarding - that way, there's at least an incentive for people to play out the game. I've had some close games against 'OP teams' where we probably would've won if our strongest player hadn't gone AFK after 80 points because they thought the game was unwinnable, haha.

I'm not really sure if there is an alternative for how they balance the teams, though, and my queue times are already pretty darn long (~10 minutes). BR doesn't mean too much. Levels don't mean much. Battle points are the most logical solution, but clearly they aren't doing a good enough job. I'm sure the devs already know people think CS is unbalanced, so without coming up with an alternative solution, complaining about it isn't going to change anything.

If you know you will lose, just get the 80 points and leave, like saying "see you later suckers" so the match will be boring for them.

Nobody needs to ask for BR, it's available for all to see. BR is better than level at indicating strength and you can't see someone's battle points. BR is far from perfect to determine strength, but it still gives general indication. The difference between 2.2mil and 2.5mil might not mean anything, but 2.2 and 1.1, it is safe to assume that the 2.2 is stronger.

If I'm spending more than a minute playing CS, personally I would prefer to actually have fun doing it. That is the point of my post. Even if I always lose, I'd rather have the score be close. And for someone with less than 500k they are going to have a hard time getting a good amount of honor points if they can't kill or mine anything. They have to get lucky mining once or twice and getting an assist maybe on a kill.

I have no problem getting my 80, getting good amount of honor points, and usually getting 4 chests, often even when I'm on the losing team, but that is not true for low BR players. And I still want it to be fun meaning a close fight, not a blowout from the first seconds.
