Why you should not spend a single cent in this game
This post is a complain and a suggestion and a guide.
I consider myself a hardcore player in this game. Although I am a free player, I have a quite understanding about the game mechanics. I came from GTArcade and play since S1 Loralei.
I came from there to R2 expecting some differences between the management of the game servers and events, but I found both companies to be equally disappointing.
1 THE DIAMOND SYSTEM.
The game PVP is biased towards pay-to-win. Unless you pay real life money, you cannot expect to be the best in the server. If you prefer PVE, you can do pretty well as a free player. You, dear free player, should know that the free diamonds given by the game are all that you need. You truly do not need to spend real life money to play the game at all. Every single item in the game can be gotten for free, as long as you have patience to SAVE. Diamonds, however, speed up things in a vertiginously pace. You can achieve high results in a couple days spend diamonds, while in the other hand you would take months of saving to get the same results.
HOWEVER, the game tends for diamond consumption. That's how the company makes its revenue. Obviously nothing in the internet is for free. If you do not pay, someone else is paying for you. That's how it works. The game is not free. Period. Deal with it.
That is acceptable. What is not acceptable is that there are options you do that WILL CONSUME DIAMONDS WITHOUT ASKING CONFIRMATION FIRST. This leads for the first problem I would like to address. If players do not have full control of their REAL LIFE MONEY SPENT, they (may) assume the company is not trustworthy. That is my case. I refuse to put my hard earned dollars, no matter how few bucks, in something I do not trust.
It is quite easy to do this in the game database (assuming that you have a reasonable database, a few tweaks in MySQL do the job). I suggest the developers put a restriction not in the option (client side), but in the server side, always asking confirmation for each purchase. This way we (both players and the company) can have full control of the Diamond expenditure. Also, you could allow us to see our expenditure log. See where we spent the money. This way you can also see were players tend to spend diamonds (free or bought) and modify the game mechanics towards a more profitable approach.
2 THE ROULETTE SYSTEM.
The game is developed by Asians. And they tend to do things ''Asian-like''. Asians (Chinese, Japanese etc.) truly LOVE roulette games. Pachinko, Slots, you name it. Even in Pokémon there is a slot minigame emulating real life casinos.
League of Angels also has this feature. Although not properly a game of chance, many (almost all) of the in-game systems work by chance. This creates a problem. Let's see in depth:
Gemmology: fine, each turn I may earn a random gem, but I can exchange it later. So, why care?
Raiders: fine, each exploration I earn a random item, so it leads to PVP battles. It's fine.
Upgrade: hmm, just how many stones do I need to upgrade? Whatever, I may find more anyway...
Refining: hey! Just how many times do I need to refine until got a good set? I have no idea how many stones I spent here...
Events: what the real *****! How much REAL LIFE MONEY do I need to spend here?
This is the problem. Both as a free or paying player, the ''by chance'' system lead to a very high consume.
I am not stupid to not see what developers have done here. The more you pay, the better. But it leads to an UNFAIR system. A player may be lucky to get an item spending US$ 30,00 and other may need US$300,00 for the same. Or even worse.
I definitely would not pay more for something other player spent less.
My suggestion is to put every single item in the cash shop. If you have money, pay for it. A simple and direct approach. I believe the events should be used to try get the items for a less price, AND IT MAY LEAD for unlucky players pay even higher prices. It should be the player option to take the risk: The price is 1.000 Diamonds. In the event you can get it for 500 or 5000. It is your option and your luck. The company should use the player's greed more intelligently. It would also make the company's face more honest and trustworthy.
And let's agree: the casino always wins.
3 THE RANDOM PRICES.
There is no REFERENCE amongst items' prices. You may find the EXACTLY THE SAME ITEM extremely horrendously expensive in an event or in-game shop and quite cheap (almost for free) in other corner of the game. There are no standards.
As an exemple, examine the Blessed stones. They are quite hard to find, although they are used in more systems than Seraph stones. Their cost is almost the same, even Seraph stones being easier to get and less usefull. The prices of RESOURCES should be standardized amongst events and shop systems. There is no equivalency; there is not a comparison reference to evaluate the price of the items.
These are my contributions to the game developers. Hope they will see it and at least think about.
You can have a higher income IF you care more about the costumer's needs.
