I have never been able to claim archaeology rewards from the handbook. Now I realized that that's due to the fact that the handbook is not registering a large number of rewards I've found in the maps. This screenshot is just one example of something that isn't appearing in the handbook.

Exchange the items that are waiting and in GREEN, then the Handbook will register that you have obtained them and you should see your COLLECT buttons be highlighted and ready to redeem.

That's how my handbook has always worked anyway.
