sorry Anata but moonfire is right on this one.. You cant base the whole thing on what one charater can do.. Most everytime an Archer will beat a Mage if they have pretty much the same BR.. Crit mages may be a bit easier as the Archer will be able to do way more damage and take less as the mage fails crits more often.. Not a fan of crit mages at all..

Archers have the easiest progression, but I think the classes themselves are balanced
A lot of the debate over classes in PvP is really a rock-paper-scissors debate. Archer beats Mage beats Knight beat Archer of equal spec / equal cash / same level.
The Knight's huge base PDef hinders the Archer, but lack of MDef leaves them vulnerable to the Mage
The Archer's Moderate MDef & Insane PAtk Damage %s on skills overpowers a Mage, but their Moderate PDef allows Knights to beat them.
The Mage's MAtk AoEs allow them to beat Knights more often than not, but the Archer's MDef slows the enough for the Archer to prevail.
But really you have to look at the core of Character building and how the game handles it. The key ingredients outside of EXP & Balens (cashers) is Gold & Daru. You NEED tons of Gold to get Guild Skills and Astrals leveled up as well as enchant items. You NEED tons of Daru to upgrade your Troops and increase their Enlightenment. The best place to earn these are in World Boss battles, and due to a few factors, Archers are insanely dominant, earning anywhere from 50% to 100% more Gold & Daru per WB Events over a Mage or Knight of equal BR and equal Boost. I have witnessed L64 Archers w/ the L60 Leg PvE Set earn 200k+ Gold & Daru per battle (that's 1 Million WB Damage per battle) and well over 4 Million in total per WB event.
Because Archers have the ability to dominate a WB event like this, it makes them tough to keep up with. Really, Knights are probably the best PvP class overall, but they are the worst earners. A L64 Knight will struggle to have L6 Holy Astrals or L7 Orange Astrals. A L64 Archer will have multiples of those, if not better. The L64 in question I'm thinking of has Orange Deter L8, Red PAtk L7, Red MDef & PDef L6, Red Crit L7. And Max Guild Skills. And the best progression in the Necropolis. And You get the idea...
Now, when it comes to MPs, and actually working as a team, each of the classes has it's own roles that best suits people's styles of play differently.
The Mage is the most versatile class. In a non Double-Attack WB type instance, they can keep their DPS up along with the Archers via Thunderer and a PvE Set. The can non-stop cycle AoEs for MPs with lots of adds. They have Single-Target, AoE and AoE DoT Healing. The have Group Debuff Removal. Almost every MP after L40 absolutely requires at least one Mage, many require 2. A Mage w/ a L4+ Purge Rune is especailly nice in MPs, and can take the burden off a single archer when enemy DeBuffs are needed.
The Archer has two very distinct roles. Specialist Abilities (Slow, DeBuff) and DPS. Archers are needed in nearly every MP after L60. Their ability to cycle slow, enemy damage reduction and enemy buff removal is not only invaluable - it's absolutely necessary in L60 and L65 instances. Outside of that, the DPS they provide is always welcome as well when not needed in that specialist role.
Knights are often considered the least useful, but you love it when you have a good one. A good Knight w/ a ton of HP, who knows when to run a defensive stance w/ Bubble and Apollo or go offensive w/ a pair of Delphics can be your best friend. Sure, a good casher Archer or Mage can supplement a Knight's role as the "tank" - but they don't do it nearly as well as the actual "tank" does.
In the non-cooperative PvE, Archers tend to have advantages in both Crypt and Necro, leading to them often having the best early progression and not only having the most Crypt Tokens on hand, but also unlocking L50, L60 and L70 Shards before anyone else is capable of doing so.
In cross-server events like battle-grounds, the Archer possesses an advantage in that they kill the quickest - allowing them to earn more kills and more honor. Most good Archers can max honor in 2 BGs w/o the benefit of a scroll. That's tough for a Mage, and almost impossible for a Knight - so Archers tend to benefit from better Medallions more quickly as well as they earn honor titles faster.
Now I believe that 7Road is more than capable of balancing this IF THEY WISH TO DO SO, through one simple act:
- Add 40% Crit Resistance to World Boss. This would effectively decrease overall Archer damage in WB by 20% - 35%. They'd still dominate, but not as severely.
Once Archers can no longer rely on an over-abundance of Gold & Daru to fuel Astrals, Enchants, Contribution, Troop Upgrades and Enlightenment that other classes struggle with, the playing field will level over time. When I see an Archer w/ multiple L7 and L8 Astrals and they've only been playing 3-months, I know something's not right

NM MD is not possible without archers, you can do regular MD without archer once you can pass 2nd boss 100% runs on NM with same BR team.
