idk what to choose since im lvl 42 what should i pick 35 set or legendary 40 set?

you need to add a few more details, like what are you ? knight, archer, mage....... and things like casher or non casher....

If you are not a casher, i'd be pretty hard to get a 40 pve legend set.
You need for the purple: 320 Level 3 crystaloids + 4 purple molds
For the orange you need: 4 purples + 200 Legend Drops from MP + a bunch of the things from arena shop.

IF you can get all those before within...reasonable time then it would be good getting 40 legendary. But as you are 42, you are also soon at 45 PVP set.
